HOW TO HOST A GAME

A “Host” Player is anyone who creates a game and invites others.

To start your own game, choose an item from one of the following categories:
PLANTS
ANIMALS
GEOGRAPHY
TRANSPORTATION
SCIENCE
PEOPLE
FOOD
HOME
FASHION
ENTERTAINMENT
VEGETABLES

Next, you decide:

  • how many Players? (hint: with our Premium version, you can invite up to 19 friends!)

  • how many questions? (each Player can ask anywhere from 10-100)

  • is there a time limit? (games can last from 1 minute to 24 hours, your call)

Start by sharing an invitation link with friends: you can text or email it, and you can also invite them to play within the app.

You can also click “Random Search” to allow randomly-selected Players to join a game.

HOW TO JOIN A GAME

Accept an invite via email/text, or via the app.

You can also open the app and click “join game” and we’ll connect you with a randomly selected Host and Players, based on a category of your choice.

The game starts when all the invited Players arrive, OR when the 3-minute waiting time is up.

BEGINNING THE GAME

Players initiate the game by asking the Host questions—jump right in!

Every question counts—you only have so many. When setting up a game, the Host decides how many questions you’re allowed, so make sure to check at the start of play!

PLAYING THE GAME

The Host has to answer each Yes or No question to keep the game going.

If a Player asks for a Hint, the Host has to give that Player a hint before the game can go on. Hosts can use the built-in Wikipedia tab to check facts before answering Yes or No questions, or giving hints.

If you think you know the answer, click “Suggest Answer” so the Host knows you’re officially guessing the mystery item.

Keep it friendly—Players who don’t will be warned, and 3 warnings means you’re out of the game. (Players can also leave the game at any time—if you gotta go, you gotta go!)

Earn points by Hosting, winning, or finishing a game. Use your points to upgrade your avatar to one of our awesome advanced options. Advanced avatars get special skills like the ability to ask for hints and extra questions, plus immunities that allow you to stay in the game after 3 warnings (just once, so. ;-) ).

ENDING A GAME

A game is over when:

  • a Player guesses the answer and the Host says, “Got it!”

  • all Players run out of questions without guessing the right answer

  • the time limit is up

  • all Players had to leave the game

  • the Host had to end the game

Once a game ends, you can see what the answer was and look it up on Wikipedia to learn more about it.

REWARDS & POINTS

Hosts and Players earn points at the end of every game.

Here’s the breakdown:
Hosting a game: 15 points
Winning a game: 20 points
Playing a whole game: 10 points

You will LOSE points if you:
Get a warning: 10 points
Get blocked: 20 points
Get 3 warnings: 20 points + 1 star

Use your points to unlock levels and upgrade to the superpowered Advanced Avatars.

Advanced avatars can:

  • Ask for hints

  • Ask extra questions

  • Get an immunity and keep playing if you’re blocked from a game

RATINGS & WARNINGS

At the end of every game, Hosts and Players can rate each other, 1 – 5 stars. So be kind, stay cool, and impress your Host with the sharp questions you ask!

Hosts can warn each Player up to 3 times per game. You could get warned for spamming, being mean, or for using inappropriate words.

Anyone who gets blocked 7 times will be locked out of the app for good. After that, they’ll have to ask an Admin to allow them back in.
